  JAPANESE NATIONALS
Lakeside’s turning Japanese! Lakeside Park will embrace the land of the rising sun on Sunday, September 26 when the iconic Queensland racetrack hosts the fifth annual Japanese Nationals. Held in conjunction with the Classic Japanese Show & Shine Inc. (CJSS), the Japanese Nationals incorporates a variety of activities for lovers of Japan’s finest automotive machinery. Open to all makes and models of cars manufactured in Japan, the Japanese Nationals will consist of a massive show and shine display, track cruise sessions of the legendary Lakeside circuit, eighth mile drags, sprints and a ten-car “time attack” shootout. The Japanese Nationals is a similar style of event to the recent All American Lakeside, which saw more than 4000 people flow through the hallowed gates – to enjoy the spectacle and picnic on the many viewing mounds around the track - and some 500 cars take part in the show and shine display. CJSS founder Ray Ferguson says he expects up to 300 cars to participate in the Japanese Nationals show and shine and a further 100 cars to compete on the track. “Last year we had about 200 entrants for the show and shine and we feel the move to Lakeside Park this year will give the numbers a significant boost,” said Mr Ferguson. “Many older blokes like myself have fantastic memories of this place and a lot of the younger guys can’t wait to get out on the track, whether it’s in the timed competition or just for a leisurely cruise lap.” Mr Ferguson said he expects a vast array of Japanese machines on display on September 26. Nissan Skylines for example will range from Ferguson’s own 1965 Prince Skyline to brand new R35s. “Over the past few years we’ve had a wide selection of makes from across the decades, including road cars, race cars and show cars,” said Mr Ferguson. Lakeside Park’s superb Retro Bistro in the Lakeside Function Centre will a Japanese theme for the day, to go with their superb selection of sandwiches, rolls, muffins and espresso coffee. The Japanese Nationals, set on the banks of gorgeous Lake Kurwongbah, promises a stunning visual feast of Japanese automotive history and a thrilling day of on-track action. JAPANESE NATIONALS Lakeside Park – Lakeside Road, Kurwongbah Sunday, September 26 Gates open 8am, sprints from 9.30am, parade laps 12.30pm, 1/8 mile drags 1.30pm, time attack shootout 2.30pm Entry is $20 payable at the gate per vehicle (unlimited occupants) Lakeside Park is also only 10 minutes walk from Dakabin railway station For Show and Shine entry forms go to: www.classicjapaneseshowandshine.com Show and Shine participants must be pre-registered and no entries will be accepted after September 12 For track event entry forms go to: www.qldraceway.com.au or www.classicjapaneseshowandshine.com
